BECAUSE WE TRUST HIS NAME: Devotion for Wednesday March 4, 2015
Text: Psalm 33:18 – 22 Memory verse: v 21
Trusting in the name of the Lord means so much and there are so much that could be gained from doing so. David trusted in the name of the Lord and was victorious against Goliath. This victory alone changed everything about him; the perception the nation had about him, his ranking in the social strata also changed. When we trust God, He grants us victory. Trusting God also gives us a sense of assurance or confidence that we can surmount all oppositions on our way. The Psalmist says our heart will rejoice because we have trusted the name of our God (v21). Why? God never disappoints. His name is a strong tower (Proverbs 18:10) and refuge for us (Psalm 46:1). He is ever faithful to his words (1 Corinthians 1:9; 2 Thessalonians 3:3).
When challenges of life come to you, what do you do? Knowledge of God and what He can do will make you not be perturbed when challenges come your way. Those who trusted God were never disappointed. It will not start with you. Trust in God and you will feed on His faithfulness (Psalm 37:3, 5; 62:8). Then you will be immovable (Psalm 125:1). You may trust the Lord too little, but you can never trust Him too much. Keep trusting.
Food for Thought: Beware of becoming hopeless; you are commanded to put your trust in God, and not in yourself.
Memory verse: v 21
Prayer: God, inspire me to trust you always no matter the challenges I face.
