He Will Perfect All: Devotion for Tuesday August 18, 2020

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

Devotion for Tuesday August 18, 2020

Topic: He Will Perfect All

Text: Psalm 138:6 – 8

Though the Lord is high, yet He has respect to every lowly, humbled sinner; but the proud and unbelieving will be banished far from His blissful presence. He views us with pleasure, thinks of us with care, listens to our prayers, and protects us from evil. God is concerned in all apprehensions His people.

He sees to it that none of their precious things especially those things that will glorify His name shall fail of completion; their life, their strength, their hopes, their graces, their pilgrimage, shall each and all be perfected. Jehovah himself will see to this and therefore it is most sure. God will perfect means that God will fulfill His promises concerning us. It is thus the prerogative of God to do this. It does not depend on our work.

Every person dreams and makes plans for the future. Then they work hard to see those dreams and plans come true. However, to make the most of life, we must include God’s plan in our plans. He alone knows what is best for us; he alone can fulfill his purpose for us.

As you make plans and dream dreams, talk with God about them. This is the only way He can perfect all that concerns us. We should not forget that the condition upon which God perfects all that concerns a man is for the man to walk before Him and be blameless. Are you living the life God expects from you?

Action: Write down the things you are required to do so that God will perfect all that concerns you.

Memory verse: Psalm 138 v 8

Prayer: Help me O Lord. to keep to the things required of me so that you can perfect all that concerns me.

Hand Them Over to God: Devotion for Wednesday July 22, 2020

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL
Devotion for Wednesday July 22, 2020
Topic: Hand Them Over to God
Text: Psalm 55:16 – 23
In Matthew 7:7 and 8, Jesus told us to ask, seek and find, and it shall be given to us. He did not restrict our asking to certain number of times rather He enjoins us to ask as many times as we can (Luke 18:1). The Psalmist also enjoins us to do same (Psalm 55:22) because he has been doing it and God has always responded.
Here he testifies and gave God all the glory for redeeming him. He was emphatic about seeking the face of God because he has the assurance that God will sustain us. The reason God will answer us is because He does not permit the righteous to slip or fall. Lack of basic necessities can make us slip off the faith.

God wants us to handover our burdens to Him (Psalm 37:5, 24; Matthew 6:25; Luke 12:22; 1 Peter 5:7). Unfortunately, we often continue to bear them even when we say we trust Him. If we believe in God, we should handover our cares, worries, needs, anxieties, apprehensions, burden, etc. to God. Why will you continue to bear the burden you don’t even have solution to? On daily basis, we trust God to wake us up and He does that. We should also trust the same strength that sustains us to carry our cares also. God is waiting for you. Believe Him as you go out today that He will surprise you.
Food for Thought: Dependence on God will keep the soul in peace
Memory verse: 1 Peter 5:7
Prayer: God, I bring my burden to you for I know you care for me

Unfortunately, we often continue to bear them ourselves even when we say we are trusting in Him.

Hand Them Over To Him

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL
Devotion for Saturday March 11, 2017
Topic: Hand Them Over To Him
Text: Psalm 55:22
The Psalmist advised us in Psalm 37:5 saying, “Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in him, and he shall bring it to pass.” This counsel is very necessary because life is full of challenges. Someone once asked me, if there is any life void of worries. I believe that there is no one who doesn’t worry. The difference is that a true Christian hand over his/her problems to God and leaves everything in His hands while unbelievers will carry the burden on themselves.
We don’t have to undermine this counsel because of our own, we cannot do anything meaningful. It is a way to have peace in the midst of all uncertainties of life. Again, challenges of life are so many that they can easily overwhelm us except for the grace of God. Above all, God is the one that has all the wisdom that can help us live victoriously. The best way to ease yourself of anxiety is to lay your load upon God. Dependence on God keeps our souls in peace. God wants us to give our burdens to Him, but often we continue to bear them even when we say we trust in Him. Trust the same strength that sustains you to carry your cares also.
What is that burden of your heart now? Is it food to eat this morning? Is it money to transport you to office or children to school? Hand them and all other problems to God. Jesus advised us also on this matter in Matthew 6:25 – 34. When we worry, it means we don’t trust God. Don’t insult God by undermining His ability to provide for us.
Food for Thought: Anxiety springs from the desire that things should happen as we wish rather than as God wills.
Memory verse: 1 Peter 5:7 – Casting all your anxieties on Him because He cares for you (ESV).
Prayer: Lord, help me to remove worry out of my life by handing over every need to you.

HE WILL SUSTAIN IT: Devotion for Monday February 22, 2016

HE WILL SUSTAIN IT               Monday February 22, 2016

Text: Psalm 55:16 – 23               Memory verse: v 22

David perseveres in his resolution to call upon God, being well assured that he should not seek him in vain (55:16). Being regular and constant in prayer are essentials to having peace of mind, and that joy in the Holy Ghost which is a safeguard and support in times of trouble. That is why David says his prayers morning, noon and evening. This is a challenge for us. How many times do we pray in a day? Having developed a relationship with God and having seen God’s faithfulness to His word, David encourages us saying, “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” Sustaining it as used in 55:22 means that God will bear us and our burden when we cast them upon Him. This is a glorious promise to anyone tempted and afflicted.

If God has assured us of bearing our burden (Matt. 11:28–30), then why give yourself unnecessary burden again? How can someone board a vehicle and still carry his luggage on his head? That is stupidity at the highest level. Unfortunately, most of us do same. We have entered into the New Covenant with God which guarantees salvation, peace, healing, deliverance, etc, but some of us can’t assess these blessings because we have refused to lay our problems at the foot of the Cross of Calvary where our salvation, peace and other things were bought with the blood of Jesus. Are you ready to cast your burden on Him today? Better do so for your own good.

Food for Thought: Psalm 37:5

Prayer: Lord God, I bring before you this day the burden in my heart (mention them by name). Sustain them O Lord according to your promises.
