I Will Go With You

Devotion for Monday January 29, 2018
Topic: I Will Go With You
Text: Genesis 46:4
Life we live goes with different challenges. The challenges of life come to our ways in order to make us fearful and unwilling to attempt things that will make us great in life. Some of the challenges bring so much fear that we may be forced to abandon our lives’ dreams. Despite these challenges of life, we should always have behind our minds that with the blessing of God upon our lives, we need not fear to undertake any service, make any sacrifice, or endure any trial that comes our way.
God saw how apprehensive Jacob was and decided to allay his fears with the words in Genesis 46:3 and 4. Again, those that go where God sends them shall certainly have God with them. Though Jacob never returned to Canaan, but God promised that his descendants would return. That Jacob would die in Egypt with Joseph at his side was God’s promise to Jacob that he would never know the bitterness of being lonely again.
What is that dream, proposal or journey God has placed in your heart to start or undergo? Are you apprehensive and skeptical about it? God is saying that He will go into it and you will be prosperous. Trust and believe God to go with you as He has promised.  He never fails.
Sing the song here in the food for thought
Food for Thought: He has promised, He will never fail, I will follow Him, I will follow Him, He has promised He will never fail; His faithfulness is forever more, His faithfulness, is forever more (Song).
Memory verse: Genesis 46:4

Prayer: God, go down with me into my business and work this year.

Do Not Fear To Go To Egypt

Devotion for Sunday January 28, 2018
Topic: Do Not Fear To Go To Egypt
Text: Genesis 46:1 – 3
There are places God has chosen to open His promises to us and bless us. The promise of making Jacob great was made by God in Genesis 28:13 – 15. God saw that the promise could only be fulfilled when he leaves Beersheba thus He encouraged him to leave for Egypt to also fulfill His word to Abraham (Genesis 15:3). God told Jacob to leave his home and travel to a strange and faraway land.
At about 130 years old; it was a long journey, and he was unfit to travel that far. However, God reassured him by promising to go with him and take care of him. He fulfilled it by making Israel a great nation in Egypt. They were 75 persons that left for Egypt and came out in millions. What a mighty God we serve!
When new situations or surroundings frighten us, we should recognize that experiencing fear is normal. However, to be paralyzed by fear is an indication that we are questioning God’s ability to take care of us. There is a place God has made chosen to bless and prosper you this year. At His command, move on to that place. All you need to do is ask for divine wisdom from God to get to that place of recognition and blessing. We should trust God to help us as we undertake various ventures this year. He will see us through. Don’t be afraid. Move on and He will make you great.
Sing SS&S 561; Abu 188
Food for Thought: Where has God promised to make you great?
Memory verse: Genesis 46:3
Prayer: Lord, lead me to the place you have promised to make me great.

He Keeps Us On Our Way

My Daily Covenant with God (2017 Edition) January 1, 2017
Topic: He Keeps Us On Our Way
Text: Exodus 23:20 – 31
Happy New Year and welcome to 2017! In today’s text is a promise directly from God that He will send His angel to guide His people, Israel through the wilderness to the Promised Land with a condition of obedience attached to it (Exodus 23:21 and 22). How possible would it have been for Israelites to walk through to the Promised Land without God guiding them? That would have been a mission impossible. But God who called them and initiated the movement knew the task ahead and decided to lead them through. They needed courage to continue the journey. God made three promises in 23:20; to send his Angel, to guide His people in the wilderness and to bring them into the Promised Land.
These are the three promises God has for you as you start this year that He will send His Angel to go before you throughout the year, to guide and guard you and to bring you promises of good health, peace, progress and all the heavenly blessings. God has made these promises; the fulfilment depends on your ability to keep to the conditions attached to them. Just like He told Joshua, so He is telling you today to “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go." Let this assurance from Josh. 1:9 be your courage this year and beyond.
Food for Thought: "The Lord is my Shepherd," not was, not maybe, not will be. "The Lord is my Shepherd" – is on Sunday, is on Monday, and is through every day of the week; is in January, is in December, and every month of the year; is at home, and is in China; is in peace, and is in war; in abundance and in poverty – Taylor (PowerBible CD)
Memory verse: Exodus 23 verse 20
Prayer: Pray for the year 2017 and ask for God’s grace, favour, peace and blessings in your life, family and career.

HIS EVER PRESENCE: Devotion for Saturday October 3, 2015

HIS EVER PRESENCE             Saturday October 3, 2015

Text: Exodus 33:12 – 23         Memory verse: v 15

Adam Clarke in his commentary on our text, posited that “Without supernatural assistance, and a most particular providence, he knew that it would be impossible either to govern such a people, or support them in the desert; and therefore he wishes to be well assured on this head, that he may lead them up with confidence, and be able to give them the most explicit assurances of support and protection.” The condition for this to be possible is stated in Isaiah 63:9. God had earlier given them the assurance of going with them in 33:3. Despite the assurances, Moses came up with the words in 33:15. He had some reservations about the journey because of its involvements and strenuous nature.

There are so many challenges that are before us in our lives’ journey. There are enemies to contend with. The only guarantee for our victory; our success, our protection and guidance is the presence of God. If you need all these, you have to court the favour of God’s presence to go with you every second, minute, hour and day of your life. Do not undermine this because it will amount to leaning on your own understanding which will fail you.

Food for Thought: Full assurance of God’s presence is a great motivator in any endeavour we want to undertake in life.

Prayer: God, grant me the favour of your presence every day of my life.
