God’s Mysterious Ways: Devotion for Monday September 28, 2020

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

Devotion for Monday September 28, 2020

Topic: God’s Mysterious Ways

Text: Exodus 14:21 – 31

This story is an instance of God’s wonderful favour to His people, Israel. God showed His Almighty power, by opening a passage through the waters, some miles over for them to pass through. There was no apparent way of escape, but the Lord opened up a dry path through the sea.

This shows that God can bring His people through the greatest difficulties, and force a way for them where He does not find it. They went through the sea; they walked upon dry land in the midst of the sea. This was done, in order to encourage God's people in all ages to trust Him in the greatest straits. What cannot He do who did this do for you if only you trust Him to do so?

Sometimes we find ourselves caught in a problem and see no way out. Don’t panic; God can open up a way. What is the trap before you that there is no way of escape? God will make a way for you. When challenged and trapped, let this story and the words of this song by Don Moen encourage you.

God will make a way, Where there seems to be no way

He works in ways we cannot see, He will make a way for me

He will be my guide, Hold closely to His side

With love and strength for each new day

He will make a way, He will make a way

By a roadway in the wilderness, He’ll lead me

And rivers in the desert will I see heaven and earth will fade

But His word will still remain; He will do something new today

Food for Thought: The parting of Red Sea was done in order to encourage God's people in all ages to trust Him in the greatest straits.

Memory verse: Exodus 14 v 31

Prayer: God, make way for me today as I go forth into the world. Open doors and gates of opportunities for me in Jesus name.

A Voice Crying In The Wilderness

Devotion for Monday August 14, 2017
Topic: A Voice Crying In The Wilderness
Text: Isaiah 40:3 – 8
Preparation matters so much in everything we do and hope to be successful therein; be it our personal businesses and endeavours or in the things of God. When we prepare ourselves before embarking on any project, it helps to avoid lapses, makes us more efficient and productive. This chapter of Isaiah is titled ‘Comfort for my people.’ It speaks about the set time to favour Zion which demands that the people of God must be prepared through repentance and faith. Our text is a call for preparation for what the Lord will do in Zion (Isaiah 40:4 and 5).
The way of the Lord is prepared through:
1) Repentance from sin; that was what John the Baptist preached to all Judah and Jerusalem (Matthew 3:1 – 6) and thereby made ready a people prepared for the Lord (Luke 1:17).
2) Confidence in the word of the Lord and not in any creature. The mouth of the Lord has spoken it; the voice as this further to cry he that has ears to hear let him hears it. The word of our God shall stand forever (Isaiah 40:8, compare 1 Peter 1:25).
How are you preparing for the return of Jesus Christ? If there is a revival programme or crusade, how do you prepare for it? A prepared heart will always meet God’s blessings in any personal or church programme, crusade or revival services. Have you repented? Remember the warning of John the Baptist when the Pharisees and Sadducees came to him in Matthew 3:7 – 12. Do not be complacent that you were born into the church or you can read and preach the bible. It is better to search yourself today and start preparing now before it will be too late. Jesus Christ is coming very soon.
Food for thought: “Before anything else, preparation is the key to success” – Alexander Graham Bell.
Memory verse: Mark 1:3
Prayer: Help me O Lord, my God to prepare the way for you to meet me always and for your return in Jesus name.

GOD OF ALL POSSIBILITIES: Devotion for Wednesday July 13, 2016

GOD OF ALL POSSIBILITIES: Devotion for Wednesday July 13, 2016

Text: Numbers 11:21 – 23

Memory verse: Numbers 11:21 - And Moses said, "The people whom I am among are six hundred thousand men on foot; yet you have said, 'I will give them meat, that they may eat for a whole month.'

God is God of all possibilities. He is not man that fails. He is not a man who says something and fails to perform it (Gen. 18:14; Num. 23:19; Jer. 32:27; Matt. 19:26; Lk. 1:37). Here Moses doubted the possibility of God feeding over two million people with meat in the desert. It is a surprise, the way Moses reacted to God’s promise because he has seen miracles and had fellowship with God. His bad mood (11:11–15) occasioned by the cry of the people was responsible for this doubt. When we are peeved and discontented, we lose focus on God and begin to doubt His presence with us. This was the problem with Moses here.

Adam Clarke commentary says, “There is certainly a considerable measure of weakness and unbelief manifested in the complaints and questions of Moses on this occasion; but his conduct appears at the same time so very simple, honest, and affectionate, that we cannot but admire it, while we wonder that he had not stronger confidence in that God whose miracles he had so often witnessed in Egypt.” Most times we behave same way. We easily forget what God did for us in the past and we begin to question what He can do. When such begins to happen in our lives, we should check ourselves. We may have been annoyed and bitter about our lives. We should quickly go back to God.

Food for Thought: Jeremiah 32:17 & 27 - 'Ah, Lord God! Behold, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for you. Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?

Prayer: My father in heaven, you are God of all possibilities. Meet me at the point of my needs (mention them) that the world will acknowledge that you alone are God.
