Are You Afraid?

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL
Devotion for Friday May 5, 2017
Topic: Are You Afraid?
Text: Luke 8:50
Faith is very indispensable in our daily lives. God expects us express our faith when confronted with greater challenges of life. It is lack of faith that breeds fear and doubts. Jairus came to Jesus requesting that He should come to heal her daughter. On the way, Jairus was informed that the girl was dead and he should not border Jesus any longer. A hopeless situation indeed! Some of us, we will break down in tears. It is my prayers that God will turn every hopeless situation in your life to hopeful situations in Jesus name. When Jesus heard this, He said, "Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well."
Fear is one of the things that deny us our miracle. Fear arises when we anticipate evil but when our faith is solid, we will excel. Are you afraid of failure, the danger lurking around you, business collapsing, attack, etc? Jesus is saying that you shouldn’t be afraid. There is no need to be afraid no matter the situation.
Jesus told Jairus, do not be afraid. So He is telling you not to be afraid of what has not even happened. As you remove fear and trust God for a great and fruitful future, I decree it shall be so in Jesus name. As you trust Him concerning that project you want to embark upon, He will perfect it for you. Emerson said, “All I have seen teaches me to trust the Creator for all I have not seen.” Trust God for what you have not seen about your future and your career. Trust Him because He knows the best for you.
Food for Thought: “Beware of despairing about yourself; you are commanded to put your trust in God, and not in yourself” – St. Augustine.
Memory verse: Luke 8 verse 50
Prayer: 1. God, remove fear in me and give me the grace to trust you. 2. God, increase my faith in Jesus name.

Be Of Good Cheer

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL
Devotion for Thursday January 26, 2017
Topic: Be Of Good Cheer
Text: Matthew 14:22 – 27
Have you ever wondered why some of the initiatives, plans and promises of God are hindered by Satan’s attacks? It is because Satan and his agents do not want us to enjoy the promises of God. This is the reason some people can’t grow as Christians; they move one step and fall two steps backward.
In our text is the story of how Jesus asked the disciples to move ahead of Him. They obeyed and went on. Satan thought that the absence of Jesus on the boat will be a good opportunity to attack. Unfortunately, he greatly made a mistake. When the disciples felt the threat of the wave, Jesus immediately appeared for them saying, “Be of good cheer.”
There are great lessons for us here.
1) When God instructs us to move on, we should obey because He is always there with us (Matt 28:20).
2) When we are threatened and in despair, we should always remember His words in Jn. 16:33.
3). God doesn’t abandon us to threats of the enemies especially when we are doing His will or command.
4) Jesus knows our needs and He is able to meet us at the point of our need. When the disciples felt threatened, Jesus knew and came to their rescue. Yours will not be different.
As you go out today, be of good cheer because He is already working in your favour to protect you from attacks of the enemies and to provide for you.
Food for Thought: Hearing the voice of Christ saying “It is I,” is a sufficient support in all afflictions of life.
Memory verse: Matthew 14 verse 27 - But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
Prayer: My Lord and my God, speak your word to me in all the afflictions I am going through in Jesus name.

AFRAID OF TERROR? Devotion for Tuesday September 8, 2015

AFRAID OF TERROR?                      Tuesday September 8, 2015

Text: Psalm 91:1 – 6                        Memory verse 5

This psalm teaches us that God is a shelter, a refuge when we are afraid. The Psalmist’s faith in Almighty God as protector would carry him through all the dangers and fears of life. This should be a picture of our trust; trading all our fears for faith in Him, no matter how intense our fears may be. To do this we must live and rest with Him (91:1). By entrusting ourselves to His protection and pledging our daily devotion to Him, we will be kept safe.

Beloved in Christ, are you afraid of terror? Are people threatening you? This psalm is a sure comfort for you. All you do is to believe in God and entrust your life into His hands. He knows what to do and at the right time (Jeremiah 29:11). Terror is one antics of the devil to intimidate us and shut us out of God’s grace. Do not yield to any form of terror.

Food for Thought: Psalm 112:6 – 8

Prayer: Lord, make my heart steadfast in you so I will not fear any terror.
