It Pays To Wait Upon God

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL
Devotion for Friday May 12, 2017
Topic: It Pays To Wait Upon God
Text: John 5:1 – 9
The Psalmist said in Ps 130:5 that he will wait for the lord and hope in His word. Waiting upon God for salvation, healing and deliverance pays and none who does that, will ever be disappointed. Hannah was a woman that was seriously wounded by the taunting of Peninnah her mate (1 Samuel 1:1–18). Rather than gossip or quarrel with her, Hannah chose to wait on God to vindicate her which paid off with a special child – Samuel, a great prophet and many other children (1 Samuel 2:21).
Here is a pathetic story of a man sick for 38 years. Probably his people had abandoned him at the Pool of Bethsaida because they had given up on him. If he goes home, help is not there. If he stays, there is possibility of getting healed but no one there to assist him. Have people given up on you because of your evil ways, sin, sickness, etc? God will arise for you this season. God will remember you in Jesus name. However, the man preferred to stay, waiting patiently for the opportunity to step into the water even though there was nobody there to help him. Yet he will not go away.
Beloved, what is that problem confronting you now? Is it sickness, marriage, no child, quest for admission, job, etc? Just wait patiently on the Lord and He will answer you, and grant you the best. He did it for Zachariah and Elizabeth and also for many other people even in our world of today. Yours will not be an exception.
Food for Thought: Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet – Rousseau.
Memory verse: John 5 verse 7
Prayer: God, grant me the grace to perseverance and wait on you for my blessings in Jesus name.

Consequences Of Rejecting The Gospel

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL
Devotion for Sunday April 30, 2017
Topic: Consequences Of Rejecting The Gospel
Text: Luke 10:12 – 16
Most times some of us Christians fret and become angry when people reject us and our gospel message. It supposed not to be so. Why will you fret and become angry? You were not the one they rejected but the person who sent you. God is the owner of the field where we went to harvest. If people are not willing to accept your message, leave it at that because God is the one that will judge them at last. Here, Jesus posited that there are consequences of rejecting the gospel. Outside being rejected by God at last, their condition will be worse than that of Sodom, the evil city that was destroyed because they were evil; practising sodomy (Genesis 19).
Today, we use the name of the city to symbolize wickedness and immorality. As those who rejected the gospel will suffer on Judgment Day, it will be worse for cities which saw the Messiah and rejected Him. Jesus pronounced woe on Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum for rejecting him and the gospel. You should not develop a shamed face when people reject you and your gospel.
When you have the understanding that it is the Lord who gives increase to our labour, who causes repentance, you will not become angry. Your duty is to go and as you go, leave the issue of harvesting with god. He knows when and how to cause repentance. As you go out on evangelism, have in your mind to preach the gospel. Any other thing that follows should be inconsequential to you. Leave everything for God.
Food for Thought: Every action or inaction has its consequences.
Memory verse: Luke 10 verse 16
Prayer: Help me, O Lord, to preach the gospel and never to fret or get angry when people refuse to accept my gospel message.

WE WISH TO SEE JESUS: Devotion for Wednesday September 2, 2015

WE WISH TO SEE JESUS     Wednesday September 2, 2015

Text: John 12:20 – 26             Memory verse: v 21

These Greek were either visitors from Greece or Greek-speaking Jews. They may be Jewish proselytes or simply God-fearing Gentiles. These Greeks probably selected Philip as their emissary to Jesus because, though Philip was a Jew, he had a Greek name. He was from Bethsaida, a town in Galilee near the Greek territory on the eastern side of the Sea of Galilee called Decapolis. The city of Bethsaida itself had a large Greek population, and Philip may have been able to speak Greek. He hesitated for some time and went to Andrew, a close ally. Both went to Jesus.

The very inclusion of Greeks in the events of the final week has great significance. We Gentiles also ought to be grateful that Christ includes us in his offer of salvation. Are you willing to lead people to Jesus? There are many people who desire to see Jesus. The first Jesus they will see is you. Therefore, we should be mindful of how will live and associate with people or else our actions can deter them from coming to see Jesus. Let us shine as light (Matthew 5:13 – 16).

Food for Thought: Can unbelievers come to you to lead them to Jesus?

Prayer: Almighty God, make me a role model for unbelievers to emulate.
