Price Of Godliness (Delayed Conception)

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL
Devotion for Thursday April 6, 2017
Topic: Price Of Godliness (Delayed Conception)
Text: Luke 1:5 – 7
In Genesis 29:31, bible recorded that when God saw that Leah was unloved, He opened her womb but Rachael was barren. What was the wrong of Rachael? Was she the one who desired to be loved? Is it a crime to be beautiful and lovely? God actually wanted to show that He had a hand in the marriage of Leah too and should not be unloved.
Our bible reading stated that Zachariah and Elizabeth were righteous before God but Elizabeth was barren. Moreover they were well advanced in age. This story shows that God does not consider our righteousness in making us fruitful in terms of becoming pregnant otherwise; prostitutes would never have become pregnant. Another lesson from this story of this couple is that when God wants to give people a special child, He delays the conception of the woman. No wonder God blessed them with the greatest man to ever live on this earth outside Jesus Christ.
Remember the case of Hannah too. As a priest, Zachariah loved the wife and they lived righteously. If he had opted for extra marital affair, he would have gotten a child at earlier stage of his life. He didn’t do that because he had the fear of God.
There are many women who are yet to conceive after over 15 years of marriage. Some of them obeyed God and refuse to have pre-marital affair before wedding. The price they are paying for honouring God is delayed conception which could be the handiwork of the devil to make people promiscuous. The case of Elizabeth, Hannah, Rachael, etc should encourage you. God is not asleep and there is nothing impossible with Him. Keep believing in Him and He will honour you with children that are exceptionally brilliant, anointed and godly. Your patience will not be in vain.
Food for Thought: Should delayed conception be the reason to break oath of fidelity or engage in pre-marital sexual relationship?
Memory verse: Luke 1 verse 7
Prayer: Almighty God, help me to remain faithful no matter the consequences of the price I will have to pay.

DON’T DOUBT GOD’S WORD: Devotion for Friday April 29, 2016

DON’T DOUBT GOD’S WORD: Devotion for Friday April 29, 2016

Text: Luke 1:5 – 25       Memory verse: v 20

Doubting God’s word is a way of blatantly saying that God is unable to perform what He said and a way of undermining His sovereignty, and supremacy. It is a way of saying that God is a liar. People God used, as we have in the scriptures never doubted Him. Rather they keyed into God’s promises and kept believing until those promises came to pass. Think of Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, Peter, Paul, Mary, etc, none of them and many other Bible personalities were punished before their promises came to pass except Zachariah. Do you doubt God’s ability to give you that which He promised; His ability to set you free from bondage of sin and death? Our God is able and ever willing to do more than we ask. May that God, remember you in this season in Jesus name.

Our bible reading reveals how God sent Angel Gabriel to announce the birth of John the Baptist. Zachariah doubted the fulfillment of the message. The case of Zachariah attracted punishment because God expected him as a priest to believe the faith he preaches. He was slow to believe the strange message and he demanded a sign from the angel as assurance that the message will be fulfilled. Note that the word of God in the mouth of His messengers is God's own word, and as such should be received and believed. Disbelief of God’s word exposes us to His righteous displeasure, and deprives us of rich blessings which we might otherwise enjoy.

Food for Thought: Doubting God’s word, belittles His power and sovereignty.

Prayer: Remove every doubt of your word from my heart O Lord, so I will not be denied the rich benefits in your blessings in Jesus name.

AM I A WEAKLING?

AM I A WEAKLING?          Friday April 17, 2015

Text: Numbers 11:23         Memory verse: v 23

God hates people who doubt Him which made Him to punished Zachariah, Officer of the king (2 Kings 7:2), the 10 spies, etc. It takes a man of faith to follow God because His instructions seem to be foolishness unto us. The Bible warns us that anyone coming to God must believe that He exists (Hebrews 11:6). Do you believe God in all His word?

Moses actually doubted God’s ability to supply meat for such a multitude of people for a whole month. Family Bible Notes says, “It needs stronger faith than good men often have, or without the influences of the Holy Spirit would ever have, to believe that God will do all that He has promised.” God’s response reminded Moses of his unlimited power. God asked Moses if He is a weakling that cannot do as He has said. The problem of receiving miracles and our needs are not with God but with us (Isaiah 59:1, 2).

Most of us doubt God’s word for us. When we read or hear God’s word and the Spirit of God lays it in our heart that God is speaking to us, some hardly believe it, and that is how most people lose their blessings. We should note that God is not a weakling. If he says He will give you a spouse, car, admission, house, a child, etc, kindly believe Him for with him nothing is impossible (See Jeremiah 32:17; Matthew 19:26; Luke 1:37; 18:27).

Food for Thought: Numbers 23:19

Prayer: Lord, remove every doubt concerning your promises in my heart so that I will not lose my blessings in Jesus name.
