God Has Solutions to Our Problems: Devotion for Sunday August 9, 2020

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL

Devotion for Sunday August 9, 2020

Topic: God Has Solutions to Our Problems

Text: Numbers 11:16 – 20

To solve the immediate problem raised by Moses, God ordered him constitute an order of seventy elders, either by a selection from the existing staff of elders or by the appointment of new ones, to be empowered to assist him by their collective wisdom and experience in the onerous cares of government.

The Jewish writers say that this was the origin of the Sanhedrin, or supreme appellate court of their nation which also consists of 70 men. God’s promise of coming down was not in the physical form. What the Spirit God talks about in Numbers 11:17 means the gifts and influences of the Spirit (Numbers 27:18; Joel 2:28; John 7:39; 1 Corinthians 14:12).

God also gave solution to the need of meat they people were cried for (Numbers 11:18 – 20). Unfortunately, God purpose to give them meat to eat until it become loathsome to them. “What people impatiently and wickedly desire, God sometimes suffers them to have, and to abuse to their ruin” so says Family Bible Note.

Our God has answers and solutions to all our problems. This should strengthen our faith in Him. What are the problems you are currently facing and thinking that there is no way out? God has answers to them. Is it in your career, school, business, office, etc.? God is ever willing to answer you.

The meat will be loathsome to them because they despised the Lord who was among them, and have wept before Him, saying, "Why did we ever come up out of Egypt?” That was a mark of ingratitude. Do you despise God simply because you are not happy with Him? Repent today.

Food for Thought: "For with God nothing will be impossible” – Luke 1:37

Memory verse: Jeremiah 32:27 - Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?

Prayer: In time of difficulties and crises, help me O Lord to look up to you because you alone can solve all the problems of life.

Right Approach To Problems: Devotion for Tuesday April 28, 2020

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL
Devotion for Tuesday April 28, 2020
Topic: Right Approach To Problems
Text: 2 Kings 19:1 – 7
Hezekiah had deep concern at the dishonour done to God by Rabshakeh's blasphemy, pride and arrogance. Instead of sending words back in retaliation or to fight for God, he chose to report to the person who was ridiculed and blasphemed. This is the best way to deal with the ignorance of unbelievers. Returning words for words is childish and uncivilised manner of dealing with unbelief and blasphemy of the enemies of the gospel.
God is our unfailing resource in all situations. In times of trouble just as it is now, we should always go to Him, and certainly we will find him to be a very present and all-sufficient helper.
When people ridicule your faith or the God you serve, how do you take it? The Muslims will take up arms to fight for their god but that should not be the way we Christians should act. Our God is alive. He can fight for Himself. He doesn’t need us in all situations to start defending ourselves. When the battle line was drawn between Elijah and the prophets of Baal, Elijah only prayed and God intervened.
Are people attacking or ridiculing you because of your faith? Are you being persecuted for your faith in your neighbourhood or your office? Always resort to telling your God. God will fight for you. That is the best approach to troubles of life. Let the example of Jesus be our guide in handling similar case (see 1 Peter 2:21 – 23).
Food for Thought: Be silent and safe because silence never betrays you.
Memory verse: 2 Kings 19:1
Prayer: Lord, grant me the wisdom to handle people who ridicule my faith.

Wavering In Faith?

MY DAILY COVENANT WITH GOD DEVOTIONAL
Devotion for Tuesday March 21, 2017
Topic: Wavering In Faith?
Text: 1 Kings 17:17 – 24
Affliction, pain, problem and sickness, want, etc, can make us behave funny and abnormal. John the Baptist introduced Jesus as the Christ (Messiah) but when he was imprisoned, he sent message to ask if Jesus was indeed the Messiah. One would wonder why sudden doubt? This is one effect of a backslidden life or one who had not actually repented. Another reason for such doubt maybe the result of knowing God just because of miracle you have received and not because you have a relationship with Him.
This latter reason may be the cause of this woman of Zarephath’s action against Elijah in our scriptural reading for the day. She received a miracle when she had not developed a relationship with God. However, one would have expected that with such a miracle received, she would have known God the more. This woman’s action is one way sinners react. They see the presence of true Christians as the cause of their problem instead of repenting and using such opportunity to develop a relationship with God.
On daily basis we receive one form of miracle or another from God. These miracles especially waking up everyday should challenge us to develop a relationship with God. Again, we shouldn’t start wavering in faith because of one problem when we have previously been blessed with a miracle. The miracle should challenge us to draw closer to God in our time of troubles, problems, affliction, sickness and pain. These problems of life shouldn’t despair us.
Food for Thought: Cynicism and fear freezes life; faith thaws it out. Release your life and set it free with faith.
Memory verse: 1 King 17 verse 18
Prayer: Lord God, increase faith in me so as to set me free from wavering in Jesus name.
