DON’T BE SILENT Thursday March 5, 2015
Text: Psalm 28:1 – 5 Memory verse: v 1
The Psalmist cried to God for an answer because God’s refusal will be terrible or even death for him. He knows that his life depends on God alone and that when He withdraws His support, it will be fatal. It is not and never in the nature of God to keep silent over our request. His will is to give us that which will be useful for us and help us make heaven at last. However there are times God will remain silent and will not answer us when we are going through is His will (Mark 15:34; Psalm 21:1). However, when God keeps quiet when we are suffering according to His will, a glorious blessing follows. It happened to Jesus, to Job and many others. God can remain silent when our lives are not pleasing to Him (Prov. 1:28, 29; Isaiah 1:15; Jer. 11:11; James 4:3).
Have you ever cried as the Psalmist did? Are you suffering in the hands of your spouse, your boss or have people turned against you? If God didn’t answer you or has delayed, it may be for a reason. However, let it not be that your sins have separated Him from answering (Isaiah 59:1, 2). He is not like Baal that you need to shout and carouse yourself before He will answer. Our God will not be silent for long, Wait a little.
Food for Thought: Our God is never silent forever. When he is silent, it may be for a reason.
Prayer: O Lord, answer me so the world will know that it pays to serve you
