WHY HE PRESERVES US: Devotion for Sunday March 15,
2015
Text: 2 Timothy 4:16 – 18 Memory verse:
v 18
In
Psalm 121:7 we have the assurance that God will preserve us from all evil. There are reasons God delivers and
preserves us even as we have in our text. Paul knows the promises of God about
deliverance and protection and David too (Psalm 23:4). Here, Paul expressed
confidently that God will deliver him from every evil work; not from
persecution even to death, but from receiving any spiritual injury through the
evil works of his enemies. He believed God to keep his faith steadfast amid all
his trials, and grant him a perfect and everlasting victory over them. This is
what Paul desires from God. God has a heavenly kingdom for all His saints. It
is for the sake of this kingdom that God preserves as many as He has called
(See Romans 8:30; Hebrews 9:15).
Paul
knew his standing with God and was so confident because he knew the promises of
God for him. What about you my dear? Do you have such confidence that God will
deliver, preserve and keep you unto eternity? That is the will of God for us.
Therefore, be obedient and faithful to your call and surely He will take you to
that kingdom in Jesus name.
Food for Thought: Philippians 3:20
Prayer: God, grant that no evil design formed against me to
make me unfaithful or unsteady in faith shall succeed in Jesus name.
