God, Who Justifies

GOD, WHO JUSTIFIES                                  Monday March 23, 2015

Text: Romans 8:31 – 39                                    Memory verse: v 33

Verses 33 – 35 of our text contain a string of questions, tending to show the safety of the state of those who have believed the Gospel of the grace of God. This expression, “Who shall bring a charge against God's elect” (Romans 8:33) is a language of law, and it means, who shall accuse, or condemn, or so charge with crime before the tribunal of God as to cause their condemnation? The chosen of God are dear to him; and as he purposed to save them, he will do it in such a way that none can bring against them a charge that would condemn them. God, “Has pardoned them, and admitted them to his favour; and pronounced them just in his sight. It would be absurd to suppose that he would again condemn them. The fact that he has justified them is, therefore, a strong proof that they will be saved” as expressed by Albert Barnes.

God justifies us. Our own righteousness cannot even justify us. This should encourage us. Most of our actions and behaviours are criticized by people just because they feel that what we do is not justified. This shouldn’t make us to lose heart over critics of our lives and action. Are people critical about your faith and Christianity? Let not your heart be troubled. God has the final say.

Food for Thought: Isaiah 50:8, 9

Prayer: God, help me to live well so I will be justified on Judgment Day.
