A Great Privilege: Devotion for Wednesday 18th March, 2015

A GREAT PRIVILEGE               Wednesday March 18, 2015

Text: Mark 16:9                        Memory verse: v 9

It was from Mary Magdalene that Jesus casted out seven demons. If that was done in our own time, people will not give her any opportunity in the church because they will be suspecting that she hasn’t actually repented. Are people despising you because of your past? Never mind, it is not so with God.

Jesus appearing first to Mary Magdalene, not to the Virgin Mary shows that God has no favourites. He takes everybody that comes to Him equally. That Jesus, after His resurrection, first appeared to Mary Magdalene, a grievous sinner is a comfort for all true penitents. What a great privilege for a sinner like Mary Magdalene. So much was forgiven her, and so much was given her, and done for her, and she loved so much. She left her past and clung to Jesus who has given her hope. It was for this that Jesus did honour her, that she was the first that saw Him after His resurrection. Such honour was not given to Virgin Mary or any of His disciples.

For God to reveal himself to you, you must show a strong commitment to his course. You should have shown yourself as one who loves God without reservations. Seeing God does not come through a mere wish but through love for God, dedication to His course with unwavering commitment. How much do you love God?

Food for Thought: The story of Mary Magdalene is a proof that God doesn’t cast away those who are truly penitent no matter their past.

Prayer: Help me to love you O Lord, so I will have a place in your heart.
