Topic: Antidote to Worry (3) - God’s
ability to meet our need
Text:
Philippians 4:19
Yesterday we discuss the need to understand God
and what He can do in order to reap from His blessings and promises. In this
antidote we are looking at God’s ability to meet our need. In this epistle of
Paul to the Philippians, he was emphatic about the ability of God to meet
His needs. He had full of assurance in God’s abilities. There was no doubt in
his heart that God can meet him at the point of his needs.
Why was he so confident about God? He had personal
encounter that opened his eyes to understand God well. It is very important to
know the God you serve. Personal relationship with God is very essential
because it opens our eyes to why he called us and what we stand to benefit in
our call. With such assurance, Paul was bold to tell the Philippians what God
can do.
Again, Paul demonstrated his faith in God’s
abilities. Can you imagine the kind of assurance David had to stand against
Goliath? He was full of assurance despite intimidations from his
brother, King Saul and Goliath. We shouldn’t be discontented and unhappy in any
condition of life which can lead to worry or anxiety. By so doing, we endanger
our lives and lose faith in the ability or God to provide for our daily needs;
rather we should keep on trusting God in all areas of our lives. If He woke us
up this morning in good health, we should also have faith that His plans for us
would be perfected because He has good thought and intentions for us (Jeremiah
29:11). We can always trust God to
meet us at the point of our needs.
There is a difference between our wants and our
needs. Most people want to feel good and avoid discomfort or pain. We may not
get all that we want with such mindset. But by trusting in Christ, our
attitudes and appetites can change from wanting everything to accepting His provision
and power to live for Him. Let this be your guide as you live your live today
and in the days ahead.
Food for
Thought:
Trusting Christ helps us to moderate our desires and live within what He
provides for us on daily basis.
