AT THE APPROPRIATE TIME: Devotion for Wednesday March 16, 2016
Text: Ecclesiastics 3:1 – 10 Memory verse: v 1
Most times, God allows us to pass through problems of life which He uses to teach us some life lessons. Solomon is one person in the Bible who had everything (wisdom, power, riches, honor, reputation, God’s favour) and he is the one who discussed the ultimate emptiness of all that this world has to offer. Solomon’s message here is that God has a plan for all people and has provided cycles of life, each with its work for us to do.
According to Life Application Notes, “Timing is important. All the experiences listed in these verses are appropriate at certain times. The secret to peace with God is to discover, accept, and appreciate God’s perfect timing. The danger is to doubt or resent God’s timing. This can lead to despair, rebellion, or moving ahead without His advice.”
Although we may face many problems that seem to contradict God’s plan, these should not be barriers to believing in Him, but rather opportunities to discover that, without God, life’s problems have no lasting solutions! Do you think you are running out of time in respect of marriage, child birth, university education, securing a job, etc? Time is never against you. At God’s own time (appropriate time), He will remember you. Never give up!
Food for Thought: God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work – Ecclesiastes 3:17
Prayer: Almighty God, your time for me is perfect. Help me never to doubt or resent your timing for me.
