NEVERTHELESS, AT YOUR WORD Wednesday December 2, 2015
Text: Luke 5:5 – 11 Memory verse: v 5
Though it seemed so unlikely that they would catch anything after toiling in vain all night, yet Peter was willing to trust the word of Jesus and make the trial. This was a remarkable instance of faith showed by Peter. He, as it appears, knew little then of Jesus. He was not yet a chosen apostle. Jesus came to them almost a stranger and unknown, yet at His command Peter resolved to make another trial, and go once more out into the deep.
How do we take God’s word and instructions? Have you toiled and about to quit? God is telling you to give it a trial again. Are you a minister of the gospel who have preached and laboured long without noticeable effect? You should not be discouraged; but according to Christ's directions should continue to labour in humble dependence on Him, and with expectations that in His own time and way He will give you success. We should take God’s word seriously because it will surely lead to our miracles in Jesus name.
Food for Thought: Obedience to God’s word is the key to success.
Prayer: God, grant me heart of obedience and faith to act on your word.
