I SHOULD SPEEDILY ESCAPE: Devotion for Sunday December 6, 2015

I SHOULD SPEEDILY ESCAPE: Devotion for Sunday December 6, 2015

Text: 1 Samuel 27:1 – 7     Memory verse v 1

David was a man after God's own heart, and yet he had his faults, which are recorded, not for our imitation, but for our advice. Persons who at one time exercise strong confidence in God, may at another time be guilty of great unbelief, and instead of seeking God’s guidance, may trust to their own wisdom, and bring upon themselves and others many sorrows. This was the case of David here. We may not blame him so much because it is only the tree that hear of its death and wait.

We cannot actually say that this action of David was self motivated or inspiration from God. However, the truth here is that common sense at times is necessary or else we will be committing suicide in the name of waiting on God. Jesus warned us in His response to Satan’s temptation that we should not preempt God by doing things that can jeopardize our lives (Matthew 4:7). Are you being threatened by the enemies? You should be wise to avoid their track and anything that will give them upper hand against you. This is the way you can help yourself.

Food for Thought: Prudent in issues of security of life is necessary.

Prayer: Lord, grant me understanding and wisdom to ward off the plans of the enemies against me in Jesus name.
