DELIBERATE WRONGS

DELIBERATE WRONGS   Wednesday July 15, 2015

Text: Psalm 19:7 – 14           Memory verse: v 13

Matthew Henry stated that, “The Holy Scripture is of much greater benefit to us than day or night, than the air we breathe, or the light of the sun; to recover man out of his fallen state, there is need of the word of God” (v 7 – 11). Indeed the law of God is perfect. The word translated law (Psalm 19:7) literally means all that teaches us true religion. God's word warns the wicked not to go on in his wicked way, and warns the righteous not to turn from his good way. There is a reward, not only after keeping, but in keeping God's commandments (v 11 – 14).

However, the Psalmist pointed out something that could make him fail in the law (v 13) – deliberate wrongs (presumptuous sins). This earnest and humble prayer of the Psalmist (v 13) teaches us that we may fall into the worst of sins unless we are restrained by God’s grace, and therefore we must watch and pray lest we enter into temptation. As you go forth into the world today, ask for God’s grace so as to avoid all forms of evil and sins in Jesus name.

Action: Take some steps that can save you from deliberate sins or wrongs

Prayer: Use Psalm 19:13 and 14
