CONFIDENCE IN GOD IS BETTER Thursday July 2, 2015
Text: Psalm 118:1 – 9 Memory verse: v 8
Each
day we must put our confidence in something or someone. For example; Pilots put
confidence in their planes. Commuters place confidence in trains, cars, or
buses. If you are willing to trust a plane or car to get you to your
destination, are you willing to trust God to guide you here on earth and to
your eternal destination? Do you trust Him more than any human being? How
futile it is to trust anything or anyone more than God.
The
Psalmist naturally rejoiced in the divine help he received; all men turned
against him, but God was his defender and advocate, accomplishing the divine
purposes of His grace. For this reason he counsels us to confide in God. Do you
confide in God? Do you have God as your defender and advocate? It is for our
own good to do so because men in their frailty will fail us.
Food for Thought: Jeremiah 17: 5, 7 – where do you belong?
Prayer: God, help me never to trust in man rather to confide
in you
