AMAZING LOVE OF GOD                  Saturday June 6, 2015

The amazing love of God cannot be earned but obtained from God. Many people think that they can earn God’s love but it is not so. The love of God is a free gift given to both sinners and saints. Roman 5:8 and John 3:16 emphasized on the unconditional love of God to sinners. Norm Rasmussen in an article titled ‘Love on a Dusty Road’ said God told him that His love cannot be earned no matter your services for Him and humanity. Norm encountered God and had a dialogued with Him, also said that God told him that he was trying to earn His love by reading Holy Scriptures and tries to be obedient to them; by assembling with God’s people, by praying and financial giving. Though these things are good but they cannot earn him God’s love. Those things are designed to bring spiritual growth in us and we will be rewarded for them.

However, we should not confuse God’s amazing love for justice. His love cannot override His justice because Romans 6:23 says, “The wages of sin is death.” Sin must be punished but a repentant and a converted sinner will receive the mercy of God through His amazing love. We should on daily basis, acknowledge God’s amazing love upon us. 

Food For Thought: No man can earn the Love of God; it is a free gift to all.

Prayer: Oh God of love, help me to appreciate your love which is giving freely through Jesus Christ our Lord.
