WANT YOUR DESIRES MET? Thursday April 23, 2015
Text: Psalm 37:1 – 6 Memory
verse: v 4
Having
a delight in the will, character, and ways of God is a means of increasing
excellence, usefulness, and enjoyment. David calls us to take delight in the
Lord and to commit everything we have and do to him. But how do we do this?
This counsel of David is a prerequisite to having our desires met. When we
delight in God it will give more opportunity to know Him better; when we know
him better, it will be safer and easier for us to commit our ways and trust to Him.
When you delight in someone, it is easy to go to that person. We take his or
her instructions and command with open heart without complaining. Because you
delight in that person, you will not want his or her absence. Matthew 6:33
explains our topic.
If
we really desire to have our needs met, we must delight in the Lord through our
faith, commitment, obedience and faithfulness. Are these things seen in our
lives? Our love for God must be kept ever first in our thoughts. How much do
you delight yourself in the Lord who made you what you are today? Christian
faith and obedience lead to prosperity. Therefore, we should have strong faith
in the Lord and be obedient so that God can give us the desires of our
hearts.
Food for Thought: The godly man never indulges in a desire which he
cannot form into a prayer to God.
Prayer: God, draw me closer to yourself and grant my desires
in Jesus name.
